Full Wash Process

Full wash coffee (also known as fully washed coffee) is a type of coffee processing method where the coffee beans are thoroughly cleaned of their outer fruit layer (called the mucilage) using water. Here’s how the process typically works

Harvesting

Ripe coffee cherries are handpicked or harvested.

Pulping

The outer skin of the coffee cherry is removed using a machine called a pulper.

Fermentation

The sticky mucilage still attached to the beans is broken down through fermentation in water tanks for 12–48 hours, depending on the climate and desired flavor profile.

Washing

After fermentation, the beans are thoroughly washed with clean water to remove the remaining mucilage.

Drying
